I don’t need to tell you that the use of supplements is super common. It is super popular among dieters - even those trying to lose weight. However, a vast majority of supplements are nothing more than expensive urine creators at best and potentially harmful at worst (whether literally or via the creation of unrealistic expectations and monetary losses). Some supplements in particularly are quite popular but don’t actually work/work well/work for the intended purposes people take them for. These are the ones we want to debunk now and have you save your money as soon as possible. In this short n sweet blog, I will share 2 popular nutrition supplements that are a waste of money and WON’T help you lose weight. Supplement #1: Branched Chain Amino Acid’s (BCAA’s) Eating BCAA’s for the vast majority of people is kind of the equivalent of washing your car in the rain. It is pointless. Waste of time. Waste of money. See total protein is king. So if you ensure that your total protein consumption meets demands and requirements for you individually, then there is very little BCAA’s can do for you as complete protein sources themselves contain…you guessed it…BCAA’s. Instead focus on eating a diet rich in a variety of high quality protein, consumed to optimised levels and ideally with the correct distribution. This will do what you want BCAA’s to do and will be a cheaper and healthier way to do it. Simple. Supplement #2: Fat BurnersIf there is one supplement I truly wish was banned, it would be fat burners and those who claim to have fat burning properties. The reason for this is because they literally do not work. Unlike BCAA’s (and supplements with similar efficacy) where there is technically some use or benefit (even if not worthwhile for most), fat burners are literally misguided cash grabs shrouded in pseudo-science and anecdotal quackery from unqualified “professionals” and influencers. To lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. That is how you “burn fat”. Supplements can not do this for you and the proposed thermogenic effect some attribute these too, is either non-existent or so marginal it borderlines on the crazily silly. Instead save your money and buy high volume, low calorie foods that may help you stick to a calorie deficit more easily and using the savings to also optimise your protein too while you are at it. Or buy a good quality protein powder if you want a supplement that can directly be useful through assisting you in executing on your nutrition strategy. Fat burners? More like cash burners, am I right? RecapThere you go! Now you are aware of 2 Supplements I want you to avoid so that you can save yo self some darn money! Use it to buy some of your fave foods or stock up on nutritious staple groceries.Heck even use it to buy some legit worthwhile supplements even. Just stop buying these 2 supplements expecting they will level you up.
